I also prefer the aesthetics of the M4 over the 1301. Personally, if money was no object, I'd just go with the M4 as I'd have more confidence in the gun performing the way I need it to every time based on it's history. I don't think there's really a wrong answer between either one. I've heard from multiple people that the 1301 is easier to reload for them than the M4 is. Has the Beretta name behind it and a pretty good track record in normal use and competitions.
